Recover like you train: a HYROX athlete on daily cupping
Share
I train six days a week and race a format that punishes your legs on purpose, runs stacked between sled pushes, burpee broad jumps, wall balls. The work isn’t the hard part. Recovering fast enough to do it again tomorrow is.
Where it shows up
For me it’s always the same three places: calves after the running blocks, quads after the sled, and the tops of my shoulders after wall balls and carries. That’s where I spend my ten minutes.
My routine
After a session, once I’ve cooled down, I’ll run the accura Pulse on my calves and quads. I keep the suction low, usually a level 3 or 4, because I’m doing this every day and I don’t want to show up to a race covered in marks. A little heat on the shoulders. Then I let the 20-minute timer do its thing while I stretch.
Why the dial matters to me
I’ve used cheaper cups where the only setting that did anything was the one that hurt. Being able to nudge it one step at a time means I can go lighter on a recovery day and a touch firmer the day after a race. Same tool, different intent.
It’s not magic and I’d never pretend it is. It’s ten quiet minutes that make the next session feel a little less like starting from behind.
